Hi everyone - my name is Lidi and I live in Nambucca Heads, North coast NSW, Australia where we have just had some horrendous flooding! I have actually managed to post in chat/banter so apologies for getting in the wrong spot - and twice too! No matter, will eventually get the hang of this.
My favourite scale is 1:12 and my favourite period is tudor and my absolute passion is making miniature baskets.
I am really lucky because my whole family is into this wonderful hobby - Peter makes wonderful pine furniture and flickering tudor lights and fires, and my daughter Jessica is the fimo fiend!
I am actually exploring making food with air dry clays - so any help in this department would be really appreciated. I do some with fimo but thought I would explore other mediums.
You can see some of my work at the following sites:

It's so good to have many like minded people to chat to!

Cheers - Lidi, GSOLFOT

Hi Lidi
How interesting to hear from a miniaturist in Australia - are there many of you?
Your fisherman's cottage is wonderful.

Hi Lidi
Have been looking at your photos and came across your carpet beaters, I am a absolute novice and would love to be able to make these, Please can you give me advice on what you used and how you did the knotting, measurements etc. They bring back many memories from my childhood.
This forum is going to be a great help.
Beth

Hi Beth - thank you for your kind comments!
My carpet beaters are made with waxed linen thread and I am actually in the throws of writing a little tutorial on making one - so if you hang ten - I will certainly post the tutorial here - if that is allowed? If you can wait until mid June, I should have it finished by then!
Cheers - Lidi, GSOLFOT

Hi Rebecca - thanks for your kind comments.
There certainly are a fair few miniaturists in Australia. We just recently had our Sydney Miniatures Show here, sporting several IGMA Artisans - Australian I might add -and that was a great event. I always love going to Miniature Fairs! One day I would love to take my baskets to a show like Kensington Dolls House Fair. We shall see!
Anyway - happy miniaturing! Cheers - Lidi, GSOLFOT
